They think him the best dressed man, whose dress is so fit for his use that you cannot notice or remember to describe it. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

A number of fashion designers have referenced the reduced scale of Artemis’ himation, which was folded over into the style of a man’s chlamys. Madame Grès took a square of velvet to knot at the shoulder, but also to wrap around the waist as a sarong. She kept to the notion of the short chlamys-like himation as a separate element of dress. More recent designers have taken the effect of the overmantle and incorporated it into the construction of the gown itself.

This dress is so elegant and gorgeous. I would so wear it to a wedding or a really fancy dinner in the spring/summer time!

Painfully High Fashion: 6 Insane Women’s Boots & Shoe

It looks great, in a way – an elemental wire-frame woman’s shoe form, minimalist fashion brought to life in a simple, bare, elegant, modern and entirely uncomfortable high-heeled shoe design. Just imagine the pressure put by even the slimmest of ladies with every step on these few cold, thin metal supports. Ouch!

Not much better, these high heels also from the Virtual Shoe Museum take the idea of open-toe design to the extreme. This style seems to have all of the downsides of tall shoe or boot fashions and none of the upsides afforded by them in terms of foot protection.

Fashion masochists looking for even more painful designs might find something in this mix that fits their tastes, be it the lockable bondage shoes, medieval-style torture-device heels, spike-and-strap stilettos or the folded-square slippers. Sexy, strange or perfect for a dress-up night out on the city? You decide.
Daphne Guinness
Muse: A True British Eccentric
One of my best-loved style icons is Daphne Guinness. She has the ability to wear anything. She is often cast as the role of ‘fashionable socialite’ but I think she’s more than that. I think she’s fabulous and inspiring, and one of Britain’s true, and last eccentrics. She has done things in her life other than just being a fashion icon, for which she deserves credit; producing films, designing a line for Dover Street Market and collaborating on a perfume with Comme des Garçons to name a few. For me she is the epitome of cool chic, with her tiny frame, streaked hair and impeccable taste. Here’s my pick of Daphne at her best.
Here she is channelling a feminine look with the soft hair and drop diamonds but still displaying that androgynous edge that she is known for. She knows only too well what a cinched waist can do for a woman!
Looking cute and fifteen years younger in this micro ensemble with fabulous golden collar piece. Although the thing I can’t help but be drawn to is those legs!
Coveting Parisian chic with this sparkly jacket and striped trouser. Even with all that embellishment and jewellery she still manages to look effortless.
What a wonderful gown and she carries it superbly. Nice to see Daphne smile and drop her serious demeanour for a moment. I am in love with this black/gold sparkly/marabou combination!
Posing with Oscar de la Renta and looking every bit the glamorous darling.
Looking as cool (if not cooler..!) than Kate here. She’s working the rock n roll theme effortlessly with a every fashionista’s fail-safe choice of all black.

Wow! fabulous combination of muted shades of grey and reflective silver. It all works so well with the hair and those shoes are impractical but amazing nonetheless. And she doesn’t seem to have any problem wearing them!
Georgina Chapman

Georgina Chapman never disappoints me, I’ve adored her collection since she and Keren Craig began in 2004. The delicate lace, soft satin and the tattooed legs (are they stockings? I cant tell). This is another collection I’ll view over and over in admiration…
